On the 12th June, we set off to Stoneleigh Park in Coventry, to attend the National Funeral Exhibition 2024 for the first time, an event organized by the National Association of Funeral Directors. We were excited to have the opportunity to speak to independent funeral directors and explain how Lexxika’s certified translation services, fast turnaround and guaranteed accuracy can allow them to focus on what they do best, without having to worry about the paperwork. We also had the opportunity to share information about our telephone interpreting service, which facilitates communication with next of kin who don’t have English as a primary language. Life is difficult enough when a loved one passes away, and it’s a privilege to be able to offer our services to help.
We were blown away by the breadth of the other exhibitors: We were expecting to see coffin manufacturers and hearse bodyworks, but there were so many other aspects of the funeral industry which operate in the background, cogs in the machine smoothing the passage of a deceased person’s final journey. We talked to providers of funeral management software, printers, finance companies, and manufacturers of chemicals used in cleaning and embalming processes.
We were quite nervous about the event – Funerals are a solemn subject, and we weren’t too sure what to expect. However, we left with a feeling of pride and peace knowing that our loved ones are so lovingly cared for even after passing. Over the three days we learnt an incredible amount about the funeral industry and got to see the level of personalisation that is possible, up to and including rally car hearses! Our stall was located next to the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants, and we really enjoyed discussing the importance of end-of-life matters with them.
What struck us most was the care and sensitivity that every single exhibitor and visitor showed. It’s clear that everyone involved in the end-of-life industry understands the importance of dignity and respect – We found it quite humbling, and we were proud to find ourselves alongside them.
